ALL of our programs are taught in a fun, age appropriate and SAFE manner! We make sure all classes are supervised and ALL STUDENTS must wear approved safety gear in order to participate. We always keep students paired off by ability, size, and belt rank if possible for further safety. No matter what program you choose, whether really challenging or not so advanced, we will always gradually get you up to speed, We will NEVER just "throw you in there" so to speak.
Muay Thai was Developed in Thailand and began as a close combat battlefield fighting skill that was in some cases more deadly than the weapons it replaced. Since then it has become the prestigious national sport of Thailand. Unlike western boxing and kickboxing, Muay Thai also known as "The Science of Eight Limbs" allows the use of elbow and knee strikes in addition to kicking and punching. Another thing that separates Muay Thai from Western fight styles is the ability to clinch. In a clinch a Thai boxer will work to control the opponent while setting up strikes that mainly consist of knees and elbows. In this class you will learn all aspects of striking consisting of punches, kicks, knees, elbows, and the clinch.
Jeet Kune Do/Mixed Martial Arts (JKD/MMA) is the base system here at the A.M.A.C. JKD was developed by Legendary Martial Artist Bruce Lee. The philosophy behind JKD was take what works and eliminate what doesn't. Bruce took techniques from a variety of Styles and used only what worked in real life situations to create his own form of combat. In this class you will learn street self defense as if this actually happened outside. Topics range from hand to hand combat to grappling and trapping to weapons training like disarming an enemy with a knife, bat, and or gun.
